Rocks, Trees, and Me : Exploring the Self through Ecopoetry with Rachel Dillon
Saturday, March 11:00—3:00 PMLanesville Community Center8 Vulcan Street, Gloucester, MA, 01930

If you enjoy writing and if you like being outdoors, our "Nature's Voices: Literary Arts in Plein Air" series is for you!
The second program in this series is entitled "Rocks, Trees, and Me : Exploring the Self through Ecopoetry" and will be led by local writer Rachel Dillon. Rachel is the Managing Editor of Ploughshares and has published a chapbook about Dogtown. Here is the description for Rachel's program: From Dante Alighieri to Emily Dickinson to Donika Kelly, poets across the centuries have explored the natural world and reflected on their place within it. In this two-hour workshop, we will write and workshop our own ecopoems with the help of model poets, our workshop community members, and the world around us.
Meet at the Lanesville Community Center at 1pm. We will spend the first 30 minutes walking outdoors and making observations. Then we will move indoors and spend 90 minutes writing with prompts from Rachel.
This program is rain or shine. Please wear comfortable attire and footwear. Bring your own raingear, as needed. Ages 18+.
